Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau softball team swept Reinhardt (Ga.) University 8-4 and 7-6 to claim first-place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference standings going into the final week of the regular season.
In the opening game of the afternoon the visiting Eagles (19-7 overall, 15-5 AAC) scored one run in the first inning to take an early lead. However, the Brenau bats answered with two runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to take a commanding 4-1 advantage. After Reinhardt cut the deficit to 4-2 in the top of the fifth inning, the Golden Tigers's Whitney Hulsey homered to left field to score Emma Folds and increase the lead to 6-2. The visitors responded with two runs in the top of the sixth inning, but again the Brenau offense came through with RBIs by Dayton Power and Ava Moon to secure the 8-4 victory.

In the bottom of the sixth, Power singled home Charlotte Smith to give her team a 7-6 advantage. Walker then slammed the door closed in the top of the 7th inning to help sweep Reinhardt and allow the Golden Tiger to take first place in the conference standings.
