Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau softball team continued to play well with a sweep of Montreat (NC) College in an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader on Thursday..
The Golden Tigers won both games in overwhelming fashion, besting the visiting Cavaliers 14-2 (5 winnings) and 12-1 (6 innings) to hold pace atop the AAC standings.
In the opening game of the afternoon, Emma Folds led the Golden Tigers with 4 RBIs, while Peyton Hawkins, Ava Moon, Dayton Power, and Riley Smith each added two RBIs in the victory. Starting pitcher Riley Walker held the Cavaliers in check, while Maggie Furr added one inning of relief.
The second game mirrored the first as Brenau scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning to cruise to victory.
Moon continued her hot day at the plate with 4 RBIs and a stolen base and Folds, Power, and Busbee each drove in two runs. Emily Hall and Natalie Shubert combined to shut out the Cavaliers and help secure the squad's 19th win of the season.
Brenau (19-9 overall, 10-2 AAC) hits the road on Tuesday as the squad takes on Bryan (Tn.) College (16-14 overall, 6-4 AAC) in a conference doubleheader starting at 2 pm eastern.
