Cross Country Shows Well at 2025 Appalachian Challenge

Knoxville, Tennessee- The Golden Tigers cross-country team placed eleventh in a highly competitive field at the 2025 Appalachian Challenge on Friday

The squad earned 308 total points in the 5K race and finished fourth among Appalachian Athletic Conference members.

Junior Averie Akin led the team with a 42nd-place finish with a time of 19:09, and freshman Kendall Goetzman placed 79th with a time of 19:51.

Freshman De'Nya Reynolds also had a solid performance with a 86th-place finish in 20:11, while junior Victoria Woods ran 20:19 for 93rd place.

Freshman Paula Batterman, senior Ellie Kinlaw, and junior Gladys Blanco Choque ran times of 21:03, 21:20, and 22:20, respectively.

AAC member Milligan won top team honors, while Cumberlands (Ky.) and SCAD Savannah (Ga.) rounded out the top three team finishers.

The squad now looks ahead to the 2025 AAC Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee, on November 7th.
