Track Places Second at Falcon Invitational

Montevallo, Alabama- The Brenau track and field team used numerous top-ten finishes to place second at the Falcon Track and Field Classic, hosted by Montevallo University this past weekend.

TyLeeah Maddox had an outstanding meet with a host of top-ten finishes. The senior won both the 100 hurdles in 15.64 and the high jump in 1.55m and also earned fourth place in the long jump (5.40m), fifth place in the javelin (29.41m) and seventh place in the shot put (10.25m).

Nathalia Rowe also captured a first place finish with a win in the 400 hurdles in 1:07.48 and also added a twelfth place finish in the 200 meter dash in 26.72.

Additionally, two relay teams had two third place finishes as Shatrice Dixon, Oluwatomisin John, Talara Harper and Nathalia Rowe raced to a time of 50.44 in the 4x100 relay, while in the 4x400 meter relay, Kayland Thomason, Amaranta Serna, Keren Kapwadi and Nathalia Rowe finished in 4:10.90.

Jayda Burkett, third place, 100 hurdles, 16.21; tenth place, high jump, 1.35m; eighth place, javelin, 25.56m; 13th place, long jump, 4.67m;

Katherine Fourie, fourth place, javelin, 30.68m; 11th place, shot put, 9.96m;

Taylor Green, 18th place, 800 meter run, 2:47.90;

Keren Kapwadi, 18th place, 400 meter dash, 1:06.45; tenth place, high jump, 1.35m;

Jailyn Kendrick, fourth place, hammer throw, 38.02m; second place, shot put, 11.27m;

Cameron Mims, seventh place, javelin throw, 26.72m;

Vanessa Providence, eighth place, high jump, 1.40m; 10th place, shot put, 10.05m;

Angelica Richards, third place, discus, 33.72m; second place, hammer throw, 44.42m;

Skylar Simon, tenth place, high jump, 1.35m; fourth place, 100 hurdles, 17:63; tenth place, high jump, 1.35m; ninth place, shot put, 10.13m;

Amaranta Serna, 11th place, 800 meter run, 2:36.71;

Kayland Thomason, 14th place, 400 meter dash, 1:04.68;

The squad amassed 128 points to finish behind host Montevallo (149.5 points) and ahead of West Alabama (107 points). Columbus State (Ga). (100) and Covenant (Tenn.) College (56) round out the top five teams.

Brenau next takes the track at the Kennesaw State Invitational in Kennesaw, Ga. on March 25th and 26th.
