Cross Country Takes Second in 2021 Opener
Waleska, Georgia- The Brenau cross country team opened the 2021 season with a second place finish at the Battle of Flint Farm, hosted by Reinhardt (Ga.) University on Saturday.
The Golden Tigers raced to a total team time of 1:12.29 and a team average time of 14:29 in the two-mile race.
Senior Shannon Hoolahan paced the squad with a time of 13:5.70 to place 6th, while junior Zoie Gardner finished just behind in 7th place in 14:00.08.
Freshman Lahna Wempner and Amaranta Serna also ran well in their Golden Tigers' debut by capturing 11th place (14:26.30) and 15th place (15:18.60) respectively.
Other Brenau finishers include: sophomore Brionna Bierkamp (13th place/14:52.10), junior Keren Kapwadi (19th place/16:43.40), junior Jayda Burkett (20th place/16:55.50) and senior Paola Benitez-Hernandez (27th place/21:42.40).
Tennessee Wesleyan took top team honors with an average team time of 13:29, while Reinhardt's Brooke Simon took top individual honor with a time of 12:47.20.
The Golden Tigers next race on September 10th at the UNG Invitational in Gainesville, Ga.
