Cross Country Finishes Fifth at Charleston Classic
Jones Island, South Carolina- The Brenau cross country team placed fifth at the 2019 Charleston Classic hosted by the College of Charleston on Saturday.
The team paced a total time of 2:01.35 and an average time of 24:19 at the meet.
Sophomore Shannon Hoolahan led the Golden Tigers with a solid time of 20:27 to finish seventh overall out of fifty seven runners. Teammate Bianca Orr ran a 22:56 to capture 28th place, while Kayland Thomason finished close behind in 31st place in a time of 22:56.
Other Brenau finishers include senior Giovanna Sifontes (25:58/36th place), freshman Jayda Burkett (28:22/38th place), sophomore Evelin Gouveia (29:02/47th place) and junior Paola Benitez-Hernandez (33:47/53rd place).
Host College of Charleston won the event with a total team time of 1:35.31, while Savannah State (Ga.) University placed second with 1:51.23. Columbia International (S.C.) University (1:57.48) and Francis Marion (S.C.) University (1:58.09) round out the top four finishers ahead of the Golden Tigers.
The squad next competes at the Royals, XC Challenge on October 11th in Charlotte, N.C.
