Cross Country Competes at Berry Invitational
The Brenau cross country team placed 15th in a deep and talented field at the Berry Invitational in Rome, Georgia this past weekend.
The Golden Tigers collected a total team time of 2:17.35 and had an individual average time of 27:31 on the 6K course. The team time was a collective four seconds faster than the 6K race at the Piedmont Invitational earlier in the month and the individual times were improved by almost one full minute each.
Sophomore Michelle Velazquez led the squad with a time of 25:28, which placed her 57th out of 177 runners. Senior Monika Nwajei placed 100th in a time of 27:09, while Nia Griffin finished a mere two seconds behind in 27:11. Other Brenau finishers include Sydney Romine (28:34/126th place), Giovanna Sifontes (29:11/135th), Elizabeth Lowe (30:30/143th), Anazjah Mayes (30:49/145th) and Felicia Gordon (37:28/173rd).
Brenau now looks ahead to the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships on November 4th at Grove Level North Country Park in Dalton, Ga. Information about the championships can be found here.
