Clark and Griffin Commit to Track and Field
The Brenau cross country and track and field teams announce the signings of Gloria Clark and Nia Griffin to the 2015-16 teams.
Clark,a graduate of Decatur High School in Decatur, Georgia, is a versatile athlete that competes in a variety of events. The versatile Clark competes in the shot put (27'), the 400 meter dash (1:03.43) and 800 meter run (2:50.44). She is also a member of IMPACT Athletics track team where she specializes in the 4 x 800 relay.
"Gloria will be a wonderful addition to our team," said head coach Richard Ludwig. "She is a positive, hard-working, young woman with a serious desire to be successful. I am very excited to see exactly where she will fit on our team as she has strengths in several areas. We are very excited for her to join our team!"
Griffin, a graduate of Dutchtown High School in Hampton, Georgia, is a strong competitor in the 800 and 1500 meter runs and will add immediate depth to the cross country program.
Griffin runs the 400 meter dash (1:02.78), the 800 meter run (2:24.29) and the 1500 meters (5:05.87). She was the Parkview Invitational Champion this season in the 1500 meter and placed 25th in the nation in the 800 at the Junior Olympics National Championships. Along with Clark, she is also a member of the IMPACT Athletics track team.
"Nia is the epitome of what we are looking for in our student-athletes, said Ludwig. "She is fiercely competitive, a great student and serious about improving in every facet of her life. I cannot wait to see how well she does as a middle and long distance athlete here at Brenau. I really believe she is going to surprise a lot of people her first year as a college athlete!"
