Cross Country Wins SSAC Championship!

Emmanuel and Brenau claim SSAC Cross Country titles

CLINTON, Miss. – Emmanuel College and Brenau University emerged from Saturday's Southern States Athletic Conference Championships with team titles at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Mississippi.

Emmanuel captured the team title on the men's side and earned a berth into the NAIA Cross Country Championships with a combined time of 2:09:03 in the 8k event that featured 11 teams. Emmanuel had the individual champion as well with Jonah Holbert leading the field with a time of 25:31. He finished five seconds ahead of teammate D'Andre Smalley who crossed the line second with a time of 25:36.

In addition to the Emmanuel team bid to nationals, the top five individual runners from the rest of the field earned berths into the national event. Brenau took home the team title on the women's side with a time of 1:38:30 in the 5k race that featured 12 total teams. Blue Mountain finished second and earns an automatic berth into the NAIA National meet along with Brenau. Emmanuel's Andrea Langley won the individual championship with a time of 18:59 followed by Blue Mountain's Kelsea Posadas and Page Rowland in second and third place respectively.

The top seven runners from the rest of the women's field earned berths into the NAIA National Championships which will be held on November 23rd in Lawrence, Kansas.
