Cross Country Takes First Place At Point
After a strong first-place finish at their last meet, the Brenau Golden Tigers cross country team continue to outpace their opponents, capturing a first-place finish at the Point (GA) University Invitational.
Brittany Aikens (Braselton, GA) led the charge for the Golden Tigers, finishing 2nd overall out of 66 runners. The junior set a team pace of 19:45, which was just 9 seconds behind the overall leader.
Sophomore Utami Ketchem (Flowery Branch, GA) finished in 4th place and lowered her personal record from 20:55 to 20:15.
Deishane' Honeycutt (Stone Mountain, GA) finished in 6th place overall with a time of 20:22, while Natalie Williams (Dalton,GA) finished 8th overall with a 20:42. Each knocked more than a minute off their previous personal record.
Tyana Luna (Lawrenceville, GA) completed the top 5 scorers for Brenau by finishing 15th with a personal record of 21:37.
Other personal records include Jasmine Ray (Appling, GA) with a 21:48 and Aunica Clinton (Buford, GA) with a 23:02.
The Golden Tigers had four of the top-10 runners and five in the top-15. The team also showed their best overall performance to date, lowering their overall team score to 35 points.
"We are having a great season. Every week we have new people in the top 5 which shows how much depth we have on the team' "said head coach Susan McIntyre. "The ladies continue to work hard and really focus on their individual game every day".
The team next hits the trail on October 18th at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, AL.
