Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau volleyball team split a pair of Appalachian Athletic Conference matches this weekend by falling to Columbia International (SC) University 3-0, but rallying to sweep Spartanburg Methodist (SC) College 3-0.
Against CIU, the team never got on track as the visiting Rams swept the Golden Tigers (11-25, 17-25, 9-25).
Junior outside hitter Ashlyn Browning posted a match-best 11 kills in the loss.
On Saturday, the Golden Tigers rallied in each set to defeat Spartanburg Methodist (12-18 overall, 7-10 AAC) 25-22, 25-22, 25-22 to sweep the season series.
Junior Claire Beckman had a strong match with 11 kills, and teammate Hannah Werner added 10 kills and 5 digs. Junior setter Nathalia Quintero posted a match-high 30 assists and 15 digs, while junior Jomaris Maldonado and freshman Alyssa Evans had 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Senior Dallas Morse also posted 9 digs.
The Golden Tigers (13-12 overall, 10-7 AAC) hit the road again on Friday when the squad travels to Cleveland, Ga., to take on the Truett McConnell (Ga.) Bears (12-21 overall, 5-12 AAC) on Friday for a 6:30 pm match.
