Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau volleyball team fell in four sets to Reinhardt (Ga.) University (25-27, 27-25, 22-25, 13-25) in a highly competitive Appalachian Athletic Conference match on Tuesday.
After a close first set loss, the Golden Tigers edged past the visiting Eagles 27-25 to even the match 1-1. However, Reinhardt seized control with a 25-22 third set win and carried momentum to a 25-13 fourth set victory to clinch the victory.
Freshman Alyssa Evans led the Golden Tigers attack with 13 kills, while junior Claire Beckman posted 12 kills. Junior outside hitter Ashlyn Browning added 10 kills and 9 digs.
Junior setter Nathalia Quintero added 32 assists and fellow junior Jomaris Maldonado had a team-high 12 digs.
Reinhardt (24-5 overall, 14-1 AAC) outhit the Golden Tigers .318 to .224 in the match.
The Golden Tigers (12-11 overall, 9-6 AAC) next play host to Columbia International (SC) University (18-6 overall, 14-2 AAC) on Friday for a 6:30 pm match.
