Gainesville, Georgia- The Brenau volleyball team defeated Columbia (SC) College 3-2 (20-25, 19-25, 25-14, 25-23, 15-8) to earn the squad's fourth consecutive Appalachian Athletic Conference win on Tuesday.
After the host Koalas jumped out to a commanding 2-0 set lead, the Golden Tigers rallied to win the final three sets, including a decisive 15-8 fifth set victory, to clinch the squad's eighth win of the season.
Junior Hannah Werner led the offense with 15 kills and added 7 digs, while fellow junior Ashlyn Browning continued her strong play with 14 digs. Junior setter Nathalia Quintero posted 48 assists in the victory.
Defensively, junior libero Jomaris Maldonado led the squad with 10 digs, and freshman Alyssa Evans chipped in seven digs.
The team outhit Columbia (2-15 overall, 2-6 AAC) .350 to .268 to help push the Golden Tigers into a three-way tie for fourth place in the conference standings.
The Golden Tigers next returns home for Senior Night as the squad plays host to Bluefield (Va.) University (7-4 overall, 3-4 AAC) on Friday at 6:30 pm eastern.
