Golden Tigers Volleyball Finishes Three-Match Road Trip
Knoxville, Tennessee- The Brenau volleyball team played three total matches this past weekend with wins against Union (Ky.) College and UC-Clermont (Ohio) and a close loss against Johnson (Tenn.) University.
Against Union, the team won 3-1 (25-17, 27-25, 20-25, 25-18) as the Golden Tigers notched their ninth conference victory.
Mary Ellen Enright continued her strong offensive play as the senior notched 25 kills in the win. Setter Gabrielle Hogle posted 43 assists and libero Julieanne Saliba had 25 digs. Chloe Bennett also added 11 kills.
Against Johnson, both teams battled over five sets but the host Royals won the final two sets to prevail in a close 3-2 (25-15, 29-31, 25-21, 24-26, 12-15) match.
Hogle posted a career high 61 assists, topping her previous best of 53 set last week in a win over conference rival Reinhardt (Ga.) University.
Enright and Bennett posted 25 and 16 kills respectively, while sophomore Malone Davis added 15 kills.
In the final match of the weekend, the Golden Tigers defeated UC-Clermont 3-2 (25-20, 25-27, 22-25, 25-15, 15-11).
Several Golden Tigers set career-highs in the match as senior Annabeth Vandiver notched a high of 14 kills. Freshman setter Sarah Wages posted a career-best 56 assists, while fellow freshman Dallas Morse had a career-high 13 kills. Freshman Denai Beckford also had a career-best 12 digs.
Enright currently sits in a tie for first place in the NAIA in kills per set (4.74) with Dakota Wesleyan's Ady Dwight.
Brenau (13-15 overall, 10-9 AAC) hits the road for the final regular season match of the year on Tuesday against Point (Ga.) University (13-14 overall, 9-10 AAC).
