Volleyball Splits a Pair of AAC Matches
The Brenau volleyball team split a pair of Appalachian Athletic Conference matches with a victory over Tennessee Wesleyan (25-17,25-27,25-11,19-25,15-10) and a loss to Bryan College (23-25,20-25,20-25) this past weekend.
Against Tennessee Wesleyan, the host Bulldogs (2-10 overall, 0-3 AAC) pushed the Golden Tigers to five sets, but came up short as Brenau captured the fifth set 15-10 to take the victory.
Junior Mary Ellen Enright led the Golden Tigers attack with 16 kills and sophomore Virginia Vorel posted a career-high 10 kills. Setter Gabrielle Hogle added 30 assists, while Sydney Norton added 17 assists. Defensively, Julieanne Saliba posted 23 digs and Enright also had 22 digs.
Against Bryan, the Golden Tigers pushed the host Lions (9-3 overall, 5-0 AAC), but came up short in three sets.
Enright again led the offense with 11 kills and freshman Malone Davis added six kills.
Brenau (5-8 overall, 2-3 AAC) next travels to Columbia (SC) College (1-7 overall, 0-5 AAC) for an AAC match at 6:30 pm on Tuesday. Live video can be found here, while live stats can be found here.
