Norton Reaches 1,000 Career Assist Mark
Gainesville, Georgia- Brenau senior volleyball player Sydney Norton reached her 1,000th career assist in a match against Taylor (Ind.) University this past weekend.
Norton, who entered the season with 951 career assists, tallied seven assists in the match to eclipse the 1000 assist mark.
According to head coach Michael Carter, "Sydney has been an integral part of our volleyball team for four years. I'm very proud of her hard work and leadership in our program and this is an exciting accomplishment and a well deserved honor."
The Walhalla, SC native becomes only the sixth member of the Brenau 1,000 assist club and joins former Golden Tiger standouts Audra VanArsdal (2006-2009), Mekenna Cipres (2009-21), Savannah Wilbanks (2016-17), Bailey Hicks (2012-15) and Kerry Abernathy (2008-11) as members of this exclusive group. VanArsdal holds the all-time record with 3,204 assists, followed by Cipres (2,071) and Wilbanks (1,779).
