Volleyball Competes at Running Eagles Classic

Marietta, Georgia- The Brenau volleyball team had a solid start to the 2021 season with four non-conference matches at the Running Eagles Classic hosted by Life University this past weekend.

The squad competed against four quality opponents at the event, capped by a four-set victory over Talledega (Ala.) College.

On the opening day of competition, the Golden Tigers lost a close match to Florida National University (18-25, 24-26, 25-19, 25-27) and then defeated Talledega (25-13, 25-23, 28-30, 25-7).

Brenau continued to compete on Saturday as the team lost close matches to Ave Maria (Fla.) University (26-28, 11-25, 24-26) and host Life University (17-25, 17-25, 25-21, 23-25).

Junior Mary Ellen Enright led the attack with 51 total kills on the weekend, while senior Rachel Hodges and freshman Malone Davis each added 39 kills.

Defensively, junior Julieanne Saliba posted 95 total digs, while Enright added 47 digs.

Junior setter Gabrielle Hogle also added 108 assists in the event.

Brenau (1-3 overall) continues its non-conference schedule when the team competes at the Truett McConnell Invitational in Cleveland, Ga. on September 3rd and 4th.
