Volleyball Picked Thirteenth in AAC Preseason Coaches' Poll
Asheville, N.C.- The Brenau volleyball team was voted 13th in the 2019 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Volleyball Coaches' Preseason poll, the conference office released this week.
The Golden Tigers amassed 52 votes in the preseason poll to finish ten points ahead of division rival Columbia (SC) College.
Brenau returns ten letter winners from last year's team, including senior Nitaira Wilkes and juniors Jordan Diaz and Kayleigh Reece.
"With only one senior, we have a young core as we build toward the future," said head coach Michael Carter. "I'm looking for significant improvements through the course of the season as we learn to compete at the collegiate level. This team will respond, because what they lack in experience, they make up for in heart.
The league is now divided into divisions with seven teams playing in the North Division and eight in the South Division. The teams making up the North Division are Bluefield, Bryan, Kentucky Christian, Milligan, Montreat, Tennessee Wesleyan, and Union. In the South Division, the Golden Tigers are joined by Allen, Columbia, Columbia International, Point, Reinhardt, St. Andrews, and Truett McConnell.
Brenau opens play against Webber International University on August 23rd at 4 pm at the Faulkner Invitational in Montgomery, Alabama.
