Point Slips Past Golden Tigers in Four Sets

Gainesville, Georgia –The Brenau volleyball team pushed Point (Ga.) University to four sets, but came up short 3-1 (16-25, 19-25, 27-25, 11-25) in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.

After falling behind 2-0, the Golden Tigers responded with a 27-25 third set to cut the score to 2-1. However, the momentum was short-lived as the Skyhawks responded with a 25-11 third set to earn the victory.

The Golden Tigers tallied 39 kills in the match, including nine from Nicole Ighile, eight from Lanier Leonard and seven from Rachel Hodges.

The Skyhawks edged out the Golden Tigers in both hitting (.220 to .154) and blocking (16 to 10).

Brenau (1-11 overall, 0-2 AAC) next takes on Bryan (Tenn.) College (3-8 overall, 0-3 AAC) on Friday at 6:30 pm in Gainesville.
