Volleyball Splits Two at Running Eagles Classic
The Brenau volleyball team split a pair of matches on the opening day of the Life Running Eagles Classic, hosted by Life University in Marietta, Georgia on Friday.
In the opening match against Southeastern (FL) University, the Golden Tigers struggled during the first two sets, falling 25-13 and 25-10. In the third set, Brenau pushed the Fire (4-0), but came up just short, dropping the final set, 25-23.
Senior Nicole Ighile led Brenau with a .429 attack percentage, while sophomore Lanier Leonard posted five kills and a .273 attack percentage.
In the second match of the afternoon, the Golden Tigers outlasted Brewton Parker College (0-7) in five sets, 25-27, 25-14, 26-24, 18-25, 15-7, to capture their first victory of the season.
Sophomore Jordan Diaz posted a career-high 17 digs, while Nitaira Wilkes added a career-high 23 assists. The Golden Tigers outhit the Barons with a .248 to .196 attack percentage advantage in the win.
Brenau (1-5 overall) continues day two of the Classic on Saturday as the squad takes on Freed-Hardeman (TN) College (1-1) at 11 am and Johnson and Wales (FL) University (3-3) at 1 pm. Live video can be found here.
