Volleyball Splits in SSAC Road Play
The Brenau volleyball team defeated Martin Methodist (Tenn.) and lost to Bethel (Tenn.) in Southern States Athletic Conference play this past weekend on the road.
Against Martin Methodist, the Golden Tigers won the first match 25-23, but lost the second set 21-25. In the third set, Brenau again held off the host squad for wins in the third and fourth sets (25-23 and 25-22) to clinch the match.
Reigning SSAC Attacker of the Week Jasmine Jones led the Golden Tigers offense with 22 kills and 13 digs, while Nicole Ighile added a season-high 12 kills. Savannah Wilbanks contributed 44 assists and 12 digs, and Carlee Praznik also chipped in 16 digs in the win.
On Saturday, the Brenau attack struggled to find a rhythm, falling to Bethel in three sets, 14-25, 18-25, 14-25.
Jones again led the Golden Tigers with 12 kills, while Wilbanks added 21 assists.
Brenau (8-19 overall, 6-11 SSAC) travels to Middle Georgia on Thursday for a 7 pm eastern matchup. The Golden Tigers defeated the Knights in three sets (25-22, 25-14, 25-18) earlier this season.
