Volleyball Falls to Dalton State and Faulkner
The Brenau volleyball team but came up short against Dalton State (Ga.) and Faulkner (Ala.) University in Southern States Athletic Conference play this past weekend.
Against Dalton State, the Golden Tigers lost the first two sets, but rallied to win the next two sets, 26-24 and 25-16 to even the match. In the deciding set, the Roadrunners squeaked by 16-14 for the win.
Freshman setter Savannah Wilbanks contributed both a season and career-high 45 assists, while Jasmine Jones and Nicole Ighile combined for 30 kills against Dalton State.
In Saturday's match against Faulkner, the Golden Tigers dropped the first set 25-22, but rallied to win the second set 25-19 to even the match. However, the Golden Tigers were unable to sustain momentum, losing the final two matches 25-16 and 25-13.
Jones again led Brenau with 18 kills, while Pamela Konken had 12 kills. Wilbanks again had a strong match with 43 assists, while Carlee Praznik added 25 digs.
Brenau (5-16 overall, 3-9 SSAC) next plays non-conference opponent, Life (Ga.) University on Tuesday at 7 pm in Gainesville.
