Volleyball Splits Against Brewton Parker and Coastal
The Brenau volleyball team split a pair of Southern States Athletic Conference matches against Brewton Parker (Ga.) College and Coastal Georgia this past weekend in Gainesville.
Against Brewton Parker, the Golden Tigers opened the match with a strong 25-16 first set win. Brenau followed their strong start with a 25-15 second set win, then closed out the match with a dominating 25-12 third set.
Jasmine Jones and Allie Smith led the Golden Tigers with 14 and 12 kills respectively. Savannah Wilbanks had a game-high 34 assists.
On Saturday, the Golden Tigers pushed Coastal Georgia (RV) led in the first set, but was unable to close the match, falling 25-23. In the second set, the Mariners won 25-16, but in the third set, Brenau rallied to lead late in the third. However, the experienced Mariners' squad pulled out the 25-20 victory to seal the match.
Jones again led the Brenau offense with 12 kills, while Wilbanks added 26 assists and 12 digs. Pam Konken added 15 kills in the loss.
Brenau (5-14 overall, 3-7 SSAC) next travels to Dalton State on October 14th for a 7 pm conference matchup.
