Volleyball Opens Season At Faulkner Invitational
The Brenau volleyball team opened the season with mixed results at the Faulkner Invitational this past weekend in Montgomery, Alabama.
On Friday, the Golden Tigers opened the Invitational with a 3-0 loss to Webber International (Fla.) University, and then dropped a close match to Point (Ga.) University, 3-2.
The squad followed up on Saturday with two more close losses, falling to Bryan (Tenn.) University 3-1, then Columbia (SC) College (3-0).
Head coach Michael Carter noted that his team's inexperience hurt them early, but the squad competed hard, saying, "Our nerves showed in the Webber match, but we competed well in all of the other matches," said Carter. "We improved through the invitational and got great contributions across the board. We learned a great deal and it will help us during the course of the season."
Seniors Jasmine Jones and Pam Konken combined for 59 kills, while freshman Savannah Wilbanks earned 115 assists over the weekend.
Brenau (0-4 overall, 0-0 SSAC) next travels to Life (Ga.) University on Friday for the Running Eagles Classic for a rematch with both Webber and Point Universities.
