Volleyball Picked Eighth In SSAC Preseason Poll
The Brenau University volleyball team was selected eighth in the 2016-17 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Volleyball Coaches' preseason poll, the conference announced on Monday.
Head coach Michael Carter enters his third season with four new additions to the roster as Amanda Bowersox, Patience Thurmond, Savannah Wilbanks and Nitaira Wilkes join ten returning letter winners to the program.
The Golden Tigers, which finished in eighth last season, received 48 votes in the 2016-17 coaches' poll to finishing one vote behind Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College.
Defending champion College of Coastal Georgia led the poll with 116 points, including eight of the eleven first-place votes. The University of Mobile (112 votes), Faulkner (96), Bethel (88) and Dalton State (78) rounded out the top five.
Brenau opens the regular season on August 26th at the Faulkner Invitational in Montgomery, Alabama.
