Two Volleyball Players Honored By SSAC
Two Brenau volleyball players earned 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes status for their academic achievements as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics on Friday.
Senior Bailey Hicks and junior Allie Smith were recognized for maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
Hicks is a four-year player for the Golden Tigers volleyball team and is a second-time Scholar-Athlete winner. The Buford, Ga. native led the squad in total assists and was second in assists per game in 2015.
Smith, a middle blocker from Pace, Fla., is a first time Scholar-Athlete recipient. She was second in both total blocks and blockers per game in 2015.
We are all very proud of Bailey and Allie for their contributions on the volleyball court, but even more importantly for their achievements in the classroom," said head coach Michael Carter. "Being selected as an NAIA scholar athlete is a tremendous accomplishment and a testament to their hard work in all aspects of their lives."
