Volleyball Falls to Faulkner in Five Sets
The Brenau volleyball team fell in five sets to Southern States Athletic Conference rival Faulkner (Ala.) University on Monday in Gainesville.
After dropping the first set 19-25, the Golden Tigers responded with a 25-23 second set victory to even the match. The two teams again swapped sets in the third and the fourth set to send the game to a deciding fifth set.
In the fifth set, Brenau was unable to hold off the visitors, falling 8-15.
Senior Sydney Koon led the Golden Tiger attack with 23 kills, while sophomore Cayla Graham added 10 kills. Bailey Hicks added 43 assists, while Carlee Praznik added a team-high 28 digs.
"It was a tough week for us," said head coach Michael Carter. "We competed and had opportunities in each and every match, especially last night [against Faulkner]. We're good defensively, but have yet to convert digs into points on a consistent basis."
"Once we start doing that, we will see some of these five set losses turn in our favor."
Brenau (5-7, 0-3 SSAC) continues their SSAC slate when they travel to University of Mobile (Ala.) on Friday for a 7:30 eastern match.
