Ponder Signs With Brenau Volleyball
Brenau volleyball announces the signing of Haley Ponder to the 2015-16 volleyball team.
Ponder, the daughter of Cristy and Jason Ponder, is a standout player for Sonoraville High School and ProLink Atlanta Volleyball Club.
During the 2014 season, Ponder accrued numerous accolades for her performance as she helped lead her team to a 6AAA Area Region Championship and Final Four finish.
Individually, she was the 2014 team captain and season Most Valuable Player, and was named as both an All-Area and All-State performer. She was voted Volleyball Player of the Year by both the Calhoun Times and the Rome News Tribune.
The Ranger, Ga. native was also selected as the 2014 Best of Preps volleyball first team by the Chattanooga Times Free Press and was ranked #1 in 6AAA and #12 in the state in kills.
As a member of ProLink Atlanta, Ponder played for head coach Chris James and helped the team qualify for the 2015 Girls Junior National Championships in New Orleans.
When asked about her commitment to Brenau, Ponder said, "I'm so grateful for the blessing to be able to become a Golden Tiger! It is a very exciting experience and I cannot wait for the next chapter of my life at Brenau!"
Head coach Michael Carter said, "I'm thrilled to welcome Haley to the Golden Tiger family. She is a great player and person and will impact both the volleyball team and the University for years to come."
Ponder is the third signee for the 2015 volleyball team, which returns seven letter winners from last year's squad.
