Senior Day Exciting Win

The Brenau volleyball team rebounded from a tough loss Friday night with an exciting win on Senior Day against Southern States Athletic Conference foe Southern Wesleyan University in 3 sets, 25-22, 27-25, 30-28.
The seniors led the way for the Golden Tigers as outside hitter Danelle Russell had 12 kills, 10 digs, 2 blocks; senior, outside hitter Melissa Thornton had 13 kills, 16 digs, and 2 aces, and senior setter Mekenna Cipres had 44 assists and 8 digs. Thornton also achieved the 1000 dig milestone during this match!
Junior Ellen Lemos led all scorers with 18 kills and also recorded 7 digs and 3 service aces. Sophomore, libero Lindsey Kelly contributed defensively with 15 digs and 1 service ace.
The Golden Tigers are now 14-9 overall and 5-7 in the very competitive SSAC. The next match will be in the Berry College Invitational on Friday night against Agnes Scott at 5:00 pm.
Coach White comments "Once again our team showed their resilience in beating a tough SSAC rival the morning after a bad loss. They are battling through injuries and are still finding a way to be successful. This win guarantees our spot in the SSAC Tournament and we still have a chance at a 20-win season."
