Convincing Win against LaGrange College

The Brenau volleyball team rebounded from a tough loss last Saturday afternoon to Belhaven University with a convincing win against LaGrange College on Tuesday night- beating the Panthers in three sets, 25 - 20, 25 - 18, 25 - 11.


The Golden Tigers dominated all facets of the game and were able to secure their tenth win of the season in record time- only 13 matches (10 - 3) into the season. The previous record was set by the 2009 squad, who achieved the feat in 15 matches (10 - 5).

The offense was led by the following players: senior setter Mekenna Cipres from Murrieta, Calif.- who recorded 37 assists, Sydney Koon from Johns Creek, Ga., recorded 12 kills, Melissa Thornton from Woodstock, Ga., contributed 11 kills, Danelle Russell, Cartersville, Ga., and Ellen Lemos from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, with seven kills apiece, and Rachel Adam with five kills. All of these contributed to a balanced attack in the victory.

The defense was led by Lindsay Kelly of Cumming Ga., and Thornton with seven digs each, and Koon with 3.5 blocks.

The team is now 10 - 3 overall and face two conference opponents this weekend as they travel to College of Coastal Georgia on Friday night for a 6 p.m. match, and then on to Brewton-Parker College on Saturday afternoon for a 1p.m. match with the Lady Barons.
