Hicks Signs with Brenau Volleyball
Brenau University Volleyball Coach, Jeff White, is proud to announce the signing of Bailey Hicks for the 2012 season. Hicks, a recipient of the prestigious Brenau Scholars Program Scholarship, has made the decision to continue her academic and athletic pursuits at Brenau University upon graduation from Buford High School in May.
Hicks realized her love for the sport when she starred as a junior varsity player at Buford High School as a freshman, and subsequently when she was named captain of the Junior Varsity team as a sophomore. As a junior, Bailey started on the varsity team and came to love playing grass tournaments during the summer; winning a Bronze Medal at the Georgia Outdoor Games in the process. She finished out her senior season at Buford as the starting setter; breaking the school record for single-season assists en route to helping her team to the sweet sixteen round of the state volleyball playoffs. Individually, Bailey was honored on All-County Second and All-Area First Teams for her efforts. Her academic accolades included an award as a Buford High School Scholar-Athlete.
She was equally successful with her club volleyball career where she began with Pro Link Atlanta. She later joined the GA5 Club- located in Suwanee, GA- where she has served as team captain for the last two years. She will have the privilege- as a member of the 18s team- to play in the USA Volleyball National Championships in Columbus, OH in June, 2012.
Head Coach Jeff White had this to say about the newest addition to his team, "Bailey is a welcome addition to an already great group of players. She will bring a new level of excitement and positive energy to our practices and training sessions." Bailey added, "I am very excited to join the Brenau Golden Tigers in the fall! I can't wait to see what we will accomplish together."
Brenau Volleyball kicks off the 2012 season against Bryan College on August 28, 2012 in Dayton, Tennessee.
