The Lady Hawks Soar Past Brenau

GAINESVILLE, Ga - Brenau's volleyball team played host to Shorter University (who is currently receiving votes in the national ranking), yesterday evening. The conference rivals battled throughout the three set match, however, the Lady Hawks proved to be relentless. The Golden Tigers were defeated 22-25, 21-25, and 13-25, bringing their overall record to 12-16 (3-10 SSAC).

Melissa Thornton (Woodstock, GA) set the tempo for Brenau, as she recorded 10 kills, 16 digs, and 1 stuff block. From the middle, Alexis Arthur (Aiken, SC) brought 9 kills, 10 digs, and 1 block into play. Danelle Russell (Cartersville, GA) earned 5 kills, 1 assist, 17 digs, and 1 assisted block for the evening, while Mekenna Cipres (Murrieta, CA) collected 17 assists, 4 kills, and 3 digs.

Rookie Rachel Adam (Athens, GA) made a presence on the court, recording 3 kills, 3 stuff blocks, and a single dig. As for senior Kerry Abernathy (Celebration, FL), she produced 15 assists, 2 kills, and 4 digs for the Golden Tigers.

The Brenau University volleyball team will travel to Cleveland, TN to play No. 4 Lee University on Friday, November 4th. The match is set to begin at 7pm.
