The Lions Seize a Victory From BU

GAINESVILLE, Ga - The Brenau University volleyball team was host to their conference opponent, Emmanuel College, Thursday evening. The Lions took the victory in 5 sets, with the scores of 25-21, 27-25, 23-25, 20-25, and 8-15. The Golden Tigers' overall record is now 12-15 (3-9), while Emmanuel improves to a 17-14 overall record (2-12 SSAC).

Brenau rallied for every point, with Melissa Thornton (Woodstock, GA) at the helm. She recorded an impressive 18 kills, 3 service aces, and 27 digs for the evening. Setter Mekenna Cipres (Murietta, CA) was on fire from the attack line, collecting 13 kills, along with 24 assists and 19 digs. Alexis Arthur (Aiken, SC) earned 9 kills, 1 service ace, 16 digs, and 6 blocks, while Rachel Adam (Athens, GA) totaled 8 kills, and 1 stuff block.

Freshman Lindsay Kelly (Cumming, GA) collected 6 kills, 1 service ace, and 13 digs against Emmanuel. As for Kerry Abernathy (Celebration, FL), she led with 28 assists, while also earning 2 service aces, 4 digs, and 4 kills.

The Golden Tigers volleyball team will return to the court, when they host Shorter University on Monday, October 31st. The match is scheduled to begin @ 7:00pm.
