The Golden Tigers Pounce on the Eagles

WALESKA, Ga - The Brenau University volleyball team was on the road last night, as they competed against Reinhardt University. The Golden Tigers outlasted the Eagles in a 5 set match, with the scores of 25-16, 19-25, 25-18, 23-25, and 15-11.

By defeating Reinhardt, Brenau improved their overall record to 12-12 (3-7 SSAC). However, the Eagles dropped to an overall record of 7-17 (3-8 AAC).

Outside hitter Melissa Thornton (Woodstock, GA) was unstoppable last night, as she earned a season high of 23 kills, along wtih 3 assists, 16 digs, and a single stuff block. Danelle Russell (Cartersville, GA) and Alexis Arthur (Aiken, SC) each recorded 9 kills against the Eagles. Russell also earned 1 assist, 1 service ace, 18 digs, and 2 stuff blocks, while Arthur collected 2 assists, 1 service ace, 13 digs, and 3 blocks.

Rachel Adam (Athens, GA) had a solid performance yesterday evening, collecting 7 kills, 2 digs, and 9 stuff blocks. Kerry Abernathy (Celebration, FL) led the team with 25 assists, 10 digs, and 6 kills. As for Mekenna Cipres (Murrieta, CA), she contributed 23 assists, 5 service aces, 6 digs, 6 blocks, and 2 kills.

The Golden Tigers will be back on the prowl this Saturday, October 22nd, when they travel to Southern Wesleyan University for a tri-match event.
