Shorter Hawks Tame the Golden Tigers

ROME, Ga - The Brenau University volleyball team was on the road again as they traveled to Shorter University. From the moment the first whistle blew, the Lady Hawks controlled the tempo of the game. Brenau was defeated 14-25, 10-25, and 12-25, bringing their overall record to 8-6 (1-4 SSAC).

Early in each set Shorter grabbed a hold of the lead (averaging a 7 point spread). Brenau completed less than half the hitting attempts Shorter did, comparing 18 attacks to 43. The low number in offensive attempts was reflective upon the struggle in passing, an even lower amount of digs that were made in the match.

Alexis Arthur (Aiken, SC) led the Golden Tigers offensively with 7 kills, while also earning 4 blocks, and a single assist and dig. Setter Mekenna Cipres (Murrieta, CA) ended the night with 4 kills, 3 assists, 1 service ace, and 3 digs. Melissa Thornton (Woodstock, GA) and Lindsay Kelly (Cumming, GA) collected 2 kills a piece.

Brenau will step out onto the court this evening as they host Piedmont College @ 7pm in the Brenau University gym.
