Mekenna Cipres Named Golden Tiger of the Week

GAINESVILLE, Ga - The Golden Tiger of the Week was awarded to junior setter, Mekenna Cipres. This California native assisted the Brenau University volleyball team to their 2-1 run at the Limestone College Classic, a NCAA Division II Tournament, which brought them to an overall record of 6-2.

Over the weekend, the volleyball team competed against Fort Valley State University, St. Augustine College, and Limestone College. As Brenau swept Fort Valley, 25-20, 25-19, and 25-15, Cipres recorded big numbers. She collected 6 kills, 12 assists, 1 service ace, 5 digs, and 1 block. When facing off against St. Augustine, she earned 8 kills, 13 assists, 2 service aces, 7 digs, and 1 block.

"She played remarkable, allowing us to experiment with a couple line-up switches. In the previous seasons, Mekenna's sole responsibility was to set up our offense, but now she has become one of our offensive weapons on the front row. It is rare to have a setter be one of your leading scorers, and she has accomplished just that", exclaimed Coach Meredith Franklin.
