Track Places Third at 2025 AAC Championships; Kitson Earns Freshman of the Year
Johnson City, Tennessee-The Brenau track and field team performed well by placing third at the 2025 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships this past weekend.
Freshman Madison Kitson was honored as 2025 AAC Freshman of the Year for her outstanding performance during the championships. The San Antonio, Texas native capped off her first championships with a third place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 11.50. She also ran one leg of the 4x400 relay team, joining teammates Kyla Laurent, Re'Yanna Ellis-Pickett, and Kamryn Chambliss to place second overall with a time of 4:01.77.
Kitson also placed 2nd place in the long jump and ran as a member of the 4th place 4x100 relay team in her first AAC championship meet.
Sophomore Jerrica Bryant placed second in the shot put with a toss of 12.50, which was only 0.24 meters behind first place. Bryant also added a 17th place finish in the discus.
Other Golden Tiger finishers include:
Kamille Dixon, 4th place, 3000 meters, 12:39.11;
Taylor Knox, 9th place, triple jump, 10.32 meters;
Jasmine Ramsey, 7th place, discus, 34.46 meters; 11th place, shot put, 10.50 meters.
The Golden Tigers amassed 112 points to place third at the 2025 championships. Columbia (SC) College won the women's team title with 141 points to edge past Montreat (NC) College (137 points). Milligan (Tenn.) University (107 points) and Tennessee Wesleyan (91 points) round out the top-5 team finishers.
