Track Has Strong Day Two at NAIA Championships
On day two of the 2016 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, Brenau athletes had another strong day, highlighted by two finals qualifying runs and a top 15 finish.
Olamide Sokunbi qualified for the 100 meter finals on Saturday by finishing fifth in the preliminary runs. The senior raced to a blistering 11.73, which was .17 seconds faster than her SSAC championship time.
Fellow senior Deishane' Honeycutt continued her outstanding championships by ensuring her place in the 400 meter finals. Honeycutt placed second in her qualifying heat in 56.26, which was good enough for sixth place overall.
The 4 x 400 relay team Cheyenne Wells, Ayana Daniels, Anazjah Mayes and Honeycutt also notched a solid top 15 finish for the Golden Tigers as the squad raced to a time of 3:53.02.
