Track Shows Well at Susan Rouse Invitational
The Brenau track team showed well at the Susan Rouse Invitational hosted by Southern Wesleyan (SC) University in Central, SC this past weekend.
Brenau notched two first place finishes at the Invitational as Deishane' Honeycutt captured first place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.12 and Olamide Sokunbi took the honors in the triple jump (11.15 m), which set a new meet record. Sokunbi also added a third place finish in the 100 meters (12.17m).
Aubrey Fearnow also had a strong showing, garnering three top-five finishes for the day. Fearnow collected a pair of second place finishes- in the discus (34.86 m) and in the hammer (34.32 m)- as well as adding a fourth place finish in the javelin (28.97 m) and a sixth place finish in the shot put (10.40 m).
The 4 x 100 relay team of Sokunbi, Cheyenne Wells, Ismaelle Occeus and Honeycutt placed second behind host Southern Wesleyan with a time of 49.34. Wells added a fourth place finish in the 100 meters (12.26) and an eighth place finish in the long jump (4.85 m), while Occeus topped off her day with seventh place finishes in the 100 meter hurdles (16.67), the long jump (4.91 m) and a fourth place finish in the triple jump (10.41 m).
Two other Golden Tigers placed second as Jasmine Ray ran 4:58.94 in the 1500 meter run and Alisa Sanford took runner up honors in the high jump with a leap of 1.50 meters.

Andrea Holloway, seventh place, hammer (27.96 m);
Kayla Mitchell, seventh place, javelin (25.55 m);
Brenau takes a break to prepare for the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships in Mobile, Alabama on April 22nd-23rd.
