Track Places 10th at Emory Invitational
The Brenau track and field team had a strong showing in a competitive field at the Emory Invitational this past weekend in Atlanta, Ga.
In a field featuring NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA schools, the Golden Tigers placed 10th out of 34 teams. Host Emory University took first place, while the University of West Georgia, and Rowan (NJ) University rounded out the top three.
Deishane' Honeycutt had two strong showing, placing third in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:03.83 and eleventh in 400 meter dash in 59:26.
Olamide Sokunbi also continued her strong opening to the season as the senior won the 100 meter dash by 0.8 second in 11.80 and placed fifteenth in triple jump.
Other strong finishers include:
Hunter Creswell- 10th place, javelin, (31.07); 6th place, pole vault (3.15 m);
Nia Griffin- 5th place, 1500 meter run (5:17.84); 12th place, 800 meters (2:24.51);
Jasmine Ray- 9th place, 3000 meter steeplechase, (12:29.85);
Cheyenne Wells- 14th place, 200 meters (26.23);
The Golden Tigers next travel to the Shorter Relays in Rome, Georgia on March 26th.
