Ludwig and McIntyre Add Three More Runners

For someone who started running to get in shape for swimming, Hanna Hill from Buford, Ga., has come a long way. After a successful high school career at Mill Creek High School, Hoschton, Ga., she began her college career at Chattahoochee Technical College running a competitive 2:32 - 800-meter as well as a 21:25 - 5K.One of her top college performances was winning her JUCO conference cross-country meet as a freshman for Chattahoochee Tech in 2011. Hill comes from a family of very competitive runners and is at ease with challenging workouts and competitions. "We know she will push several of our existing cross-country athletes but not sure exactly where we will race her during the track season. She is a gamer...being very successful in pressure competitions. Really want to give her a shot at the steeplechase and other mentally tough races." Coaches McIntyre and Ludwig feel she can improve exponentially in the right environment. Hill chose Brenau because of its academic reputation and the many opportunities to further her runner career with capable coaches and teammates. Her hobbies include swimming and spending time with family and friends.

Jasmine Ray of Appling, Ga., comes to Brenau from Grovetown High School, Grovetown, Ga. and will be a wonderful addition to both Brenau Cross Country and Track programs. She has good speed in the 400 (63.34) but excels at longer races. As the top point finisher for her track team, she was the AAA East Sectionals Champion in the 800-meter (2:24) as well as placing 13th at the GHSA State meet in Albany. What is most amazing about Ray is that she started running cross-country her senior year in high school and was selected Most Valuable runner. She trained hard this summer on her endurance to improve her 5K time of 22:27. Ray is enthusiastic, coachable and eager to push for a varsity spot on the Golden Tigers Cross Country team. Her major will be biology and her hobbies include running, eating and hanging out with friends. Coaches McIntyre and Ludwig are very pleased to have such an outstanding young woman be a Golden Tiger.

Ganiyat Bakare of Lawrenceville, Ga., from Berkmar High School's, Lilburn, Ga. is a welcome addition to Brenau's Cross Country and Track & Field programs. In high school Bakare was a versatile sprinter, hurdler and jumper, running a 13.07- 100 -meters, 16.9-100 meter hurdles and leaping 33' 3.75" in the triple jump. Her real success came in the 300 intermediate hurdles where she was a AAAAA State Qualifier. This summer she also qualified for the USATF Junior Olympic Nationals with a time of 68.8 and was runner-up in the Georgia Games with a time of 71.7. Even though she did not run cross-country in high school, she will be running for the Golden Tigers this fall to improve her endurance and stamina. Coaches McIntyre and Ludwig believe she could end up being a very competitive endurance athlete with the right foundation. Bakare is very happy that Brenau is giving her the opportunity to continue the sport she loves. She plans to be biology major. Other interests include playing soccer and Bakare's favorite quote is "show love in everything you do" Cor 16: -14.
