Local Standouts Commit to Golden Tigers Tennis
The Brenau University tennis team and head coach Andre Ferreira announce the signings of MaryWynn and Sally Brannon to the 2020-21 team.
"I've known MaryWynn and Sally for a few years and they've been standout tennis players from Gainesville for their entire junior careers," said Ferreira of this latest signees. "As our relationship developed over the years, I felt more convinced this could be a great match both ways."
MaryWynn and Sally are the daughters of Tammy and Dave Brannon, and regularly compete in USTA junior events. The pair have amassed rankings as high as top-15 in Georgia and top-100 in the Southern regional rankings.
The sisters are also multi-sport athletes that compete in soccer, swimming and triathlons. Both plan on majoring in exercise science and have plans to attend Physical Therapy school after graduation.
When asked about her commitment, MaryWynn stated, "I love the incredibly supportive, family oriented, and competitive driven atmosphere displayed by Coach Andre and his team. I also appreciate how Brenau University, academically and athletically, encourages students to have a dedicated work ethic towards their goals and dreams."
Sally echoed her sister's comments, noting that, "The welcoming college atmosphere/professors, supportive tennis coach and the amazing tennis team made Brenau University the perfect college for me! Brenau has so many opportunities both on and off the court including my undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and my desire to go into Physical Therapy school!"
"MaryWynn and Sally love to train, play tournaments and compete. They are committed to excellence in school and they are ambitious about their future goals," continued Ferreira. "I look forward to being a part of the next chapter in their lives and they will make a positive impact on the program for years to come."
The duo are the first and second signings for the nationally-ranked Golden Tigers tennis program for 2020-21.
