Tennis Honored with AAC All-Academic Awards
Kingsport, Tennessee- Members of the Brenau tennis team received recognition from the Appalachian Athletic Conference for their academic achievements, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Senior Jordyn De La Rosa, juniors Peeraya Charoensirisutthikul and Valentina Pabon and sophomore Elyse Lavender were each named as 2020 AAC All-Academic team members for their outstanding academic performances.
"I want to congratulate our team on their success in the classroom," said head coach Andre Ferreira. "Having four representatives from Brenau tennis on the AAC list demonstrates our student-athlete's commitment to success beyond the tennis court. They are setting a positive standard for our program."
Freshman Bianca Andersen was also named as the Brenau Champions of Character recipient. Honorees are selected as the student-athletes that best model the NAIA's Five Core Values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
Ferreria also noted that, "Bianca is only a freshman and immediately fit into the culture of our program. From the way she handles herself in the classroom, on the practice court, and during matches, we are proud that she is representing Brenau tennis."
To make the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must carry a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.25 and be a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student.
