Tennis Falls in NAIA Quarterfinals
The #5 Brenau tennis team's season ended with a loss to #4 SCAD-Savannah in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Women's Tennis National Championships on Thursday in Mobile.
The Golden Tigers came out with strong doubles play as the #2 team of Maya Mammetgulyyeva and Rebecca Pijls defeated Karina Rovira and Julia Albuquerque 8-3, then the #3 pairing of Kirsten Dickins and Paula Rives won over Angie Dahnous and Daniella Arcila, 8-4 to give Brenau a 2-0 lead.
After the Bees won at #1 doubles, they continued their momentum into singles play by winning all four singles matches to advance to the semifinals.
Brenau, who closes the season with an overall 17-7 record and a 10-2 Southern States Athletic Conference record, returns five letterwinners to the 2016-17 team.
