Tennis Advances To NAIA Quarterfinals

The #5 Brenau tennis team defeated #12 Davenport (Mich.) 5-0 in the second round of the 2016 NAIA Women's Tennis National Championships on Wednesday in Mobile, Alabama.

The Golden Tigers opened the match with a sweep of all three doubles matches to earn a 3-0 lead. Then, in singles play, Maya Mammetgulyyeva won at #3 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Anne Douwes, while at #4 singles, Patricia Recalde won in dominating fashion with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Steph Ritson.

Brenau advances to the quarterfinals and will face the winner of #4 SCAD-Savannah (Ga.) and #13 William Carey (Miss) tomorrow at 9 am central time.
