Tennis Secures the Fifth Seed in NAIA Tournament
The #5 Brenau tennis team was named the fifth seed in the 2016 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Tennis Tournament from May 17-21 in Mobile, Alabama, the conference announced on Wednesday.
As a top-eight seed, the Golden Tigers will have a first round bye, then play the winner of the 12th seed Davenport (Mich.) University and #21 Reinhardt (Ga.) University on Wednesday, May 18th.
The tournament consists of 14 automatic berths, nine at-large selections and one host berth. Automatic qualification is given to conference and unaffiliated grouping tournament champions and runners-up, depending on the conference. At-large teams were determined using the final regular-season Coaches' Top 25 Poll released yesterday. Mobile (Ala.) received the host berth.
Georgia Gwinnett College and SSAC member Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) University hold the top two seeds, while Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and SCAD-Savannah (Ga.) round out the top four.
