Tennis Picked Second in SSAC Preseason Poll
The Brenau tennis team was picked second in the 2016 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Women's Tennis Coaches' Preseason Poll, the conference office announced Monday.
As reigning SSAC regular season runners-up, the Golden Tigers amassed 107 points in the preseason voting. Led by NAIA First-Team All American selection Fatyha Berjane, Brenau finished with a 12-6 overall record and a 9-1 conference mark last season.
2015 SSAC Champs Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) University led the voting with 121 total points and 11 first place votes, while William Carey (100 points), Coastal Georgia (86 points) and Mobile (68 points) joined the Golden Tigers to round out the SSAC's top five programs.
Middle Georgia State (67 points), Dalton State (Ga.) (57 points), Martin Methodist (53 points), Loyola (La.) (28 points), Bethel (Tenn.) (27 points) and Brewton-Parker (Ga.) (12 points) complete the 11-team preseason poll.
Brenau opens the 2016 season on January 30th against Georgia College and State University at the Smithgall Tennis Center in Gainesville at 1:30 pm eastern.
