Tennis Runs Past Roadrunners

The #5 ranked Brenau tennis team defeated SSAC newcomer Dalton State (Ga.) College 7-2 on Thursday in Dalton, Georgia.

After winning the first two doubles matches, Dalton State won #3 doubles to narrow the score to 2-1 going into singles play.

In singles play, #1 Fatyha Berjane won her match 6-1, 6-3 to give the Golden Tigers a 3-1 lead. #2 Maria Perdomo claimed the fourth win for Brenau with a 7-5, 6-4 over Laura Winter, then Paula Rives clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Lucie Lovinfosse.

"There were several close matches this afternoon and I am pleased with the way we competed and how our players handled the pressure," said head coach Andre Ferreira."I am looking forward to more tennis tomorrow. We'd like to finish our SSAC regular season with strong performances."

The Golden Tigers play two matches on Friday, starting at 9 am against Bethel (Tenn.) University, then finish the day with a 3 pm match against Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College.
