#7 Tennis Earns First SSAC Win Over Mobile

The #7 Brenau tennis team earned its first SSAC victory on Thursday with a 9-0 shutout of the University of Mobile (Ala.) in Mobile.

All three doubles teams won easily, led by the #1 singles team of Maria Perdomo and Patricia Recalde's 8-1 victory.

With a 3-0 lead going into singles play, Recalde won the first singles match with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Mobile's Ambria Phillips to give the Golden Tigers a 4-0 lead. Perdomo then clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win at #2 singles.

Paula Rives and Kelley Cohorn added wins at #5 and #6 respectively.

"I think our team did well today, especially in doubles," said head coach Andre Ferreira. "We spent time during practice working on a few doubles details and it was nice to see the team applying the strategy into their matches. There aren't any easy matches in the SSAC, so I am happy with the performance.

Brenau (1-2 overall, 1-0 SSAC) continues SSAC play on Friday with matches against Loyola (La.) University and Belhaven (Miss.) University.
