Choo Named NAIA Tennis Player of the Week
Kansas City, MO - Lyn See Choo, a junior from Kuching, Malaysia, has been awarded for her outstanding performance, on the court. This week, Choo has been named Player of the Week by two associations: the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC).
Most athletes are overwhelmed when they are recognized at the conference level; however, Choo is one of the elite athletes that have had the privilege to be recognized nationally! Currently, the Golden Tigers are ranked 8th in the NAIA, and Choo has accumulated a season of impressive rallies, while she battles to uphold the reputation of Brenau University's Tennis Team.
Choo played a key role in handing No. 11 Shorter University (Ga.) its first defeat of the season, 8-1, on April 13th. The senior overwhelmed Shorter's Candice Lau in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3, and staged a comeback in No. 1 doubles, with partner Hannah Thompson. The Brenau duo was down 6-5, before rallying for a 9-7 win over Candice Laurent and Emma deBeaucoudrey. Choo is now 10-3 in singles action, and 9-4 in doubles matches.
Head Tennis Coach, Andre Ferriera was more excited than anyone to hear about Lyn See's news. When asked, he had this to say, "Lyn See has been working very hard on her tennis game this season and really deserves this award. She can play against any opponent, at any level. Once again she showed her great tennis skills last week, winning at #1 singles and #1 doubles against Shorter. Lyn See's opponents are ranked #7 individually and #6 in doubles in the South. Being nominated NAIA Player of The Week just proves, once again, that Lyn See belongs among the best players in the NAIA."
